Before stepping foot in a classroom, there is a list of prerequisites or must-haves to enter our PN program.

These are our PN program admission requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or GED, with a certified translation into English if necessary.
  • Authenticated transcripts from other colleges or universities attended. The transcript must contain subjects studied, dates attended, grades awarded, and next-level promotion.

An important side note is that students must complete an entrance interview before acceptance into the PN program. These interviews help admissions staff assess prospective students. So be ready to answer the following questions:

  • Tell me about the moment you knew you wanted to be a nurse.
  • Why did you choose to apply to this school?
  • What do you consider essential traits of an PN?
  • Why should we admit you over other qualified applicants for our practical nursing program?
  • Are there any factors that could make your attendance or success difficult, like transportation, family care, or other labor responsibilities?

Honestly, answer these questions to yourself before considering applying to any school or program. The answers will let you know if you are genuinely ready to begin your path toward becoming a licensed practical nurse.

What is our practical nursing (PN) like, and how to prepare for it?

Once accepted into a program, new students must attend orientation. The school will introduce students to administrative staff and faculty. While at orientation, the school will inform you about the professional conduct policy, dress code, drug and alcohol policy, and attendance policy.

The practical nursing day training program takes 13 months to complete – the nighttime course is 16,5 months.

However, we offer daytime or nighttime courses, and classroom sizes vary between 15 and 24 students. Students must achieve a 77% average or better in all classes to be awarded a diploma.

Throughout the PN program, you will have access to talented, experienced, certified instructors alongside many other learning tools. A fully equipped reference library with 24/7 technical support is available for students.

Computers are equipped with lighting speed internet. In addition, you will have access to tutoring, counseling, social services, academic advisement, and job placement services.

Theoretical and lab learning occurs Monday through Thursday – With no class on Fridays. A high attendance rate (90%) is mandatory and necessary for your success.

Nighttime course is 16.5 months and courses should be listed as below:

  • Vocational Adjustment
  • Human Growth and Development
  • Body Structure and Functions
  • Principles of Nutrition
  • Fundamentals of Practical Nursing
  • Pharmacology
  • Medical-Surgical Nursing
  • Maternal-Newborn Nursing

Anyone taking part in this program qualifies for financial aid, and the 25,000 tuition includes books and uniforms.

While at approved externships, each student is provided with professional liability insurance at no extra charge.

After graduating from our PN program

The Student Services department helps graduates find employment in the field they have been trained in. Students are required to register with the Director of Student’s Services and Placement before the beginning of their final course. Once the graduation requirements are met, interviews and pre-testing appointments are established for the student.

In addition, many employers and guest speakers visit the institute to interview students for permanent and temporary employment. Although placement services are available to graduating students, Medical Institute of Palm Beach, Inc. does not guarantee placement. However, the Medical Institute of Palm Beach, Inc. makes every effort to assist each graduate in obtaining gainful employment. All programs are designed to prepare graduates for entry-level positions.
